Understanding Disc Golf

Many people the world over are lovers of golf. With that said and understood you may be a person who does love and enjoy traditional golf. Additionally, you may have heard of disc golf … but, you may now know exactly what is meant by disc golf.

Disc golf is also known as Frisbee golf or frolf. Disc golf is a game that is played based on the same rules associated with traditional golf. Disc golf players actually refer to the traditional game of golf as “ball golf” to differentiate between their own versions of the game.

In disc golf, flying discs - which look like Frisbees - are used to further the game. However, the typical disc used in disc golf usually is smaller and heavier than a typical Frisbee. In the game of disc golf, the discs are thrown at a target. The target at which the disc is thrown at during the course of disc golf is known as a hole.

In point of fact, when playing disc golf, the so-called holes can be objects such as trees or poles or nearly anything else. In addition, disc golf can be played nearly anywhere at any time … and, in addition, by anyone at all.

A growing number of people have elected to take up disc golf in recent years. Disc golf has become increasingly popular amongst younger people. They find it a very entertaining and engaging activity. In addition, these people find disc golf to be a very good exercise as well.

Of course, some traditional golf players frown upon disc golf. They do not believe that it should even bear the moniker of golf in any form. They maintain that there is only one type of golf - the kind that is played on a golf course, with golf clubs and with golf balls.

One interesting development in recent years when it comes to disc golf is the number of disc golf tournaments that are being held in different places around the world. These disc golf tournaments are attracting a significant number of participants. And, these disc golf tournaments are attracting participants from a wide range of ages - from the very young to senior citizens and everyone else in between.
